NIN

The NIN (National ID Number) is the public number for everyone doing business, or living in Kaldus. The NIN can be freely given, and even encouraged to be freely given. The NIN can serve multiple purposes – therefore making it a very versatile number. The NIN is unique, so it can be used as an account number with a company. The NIN is also the bank account number for the resident. It is also the first 11 digits of the domestic telephone number. The NIN will have an ID card which will provide for authentication of existence. The number functions as the following:

  • Bank Account Number
  • Company Account Number
  • Health1 Account
  • Telephone Number Base

Bank Account Number

This might sound like a bad thing, but the NIN is also the bank account number with the banking system. As one may learn in the NSC – Financial Requirements, one would learn that the receiver can not initiate transfer from someone else’s account. I can’t know your NIN, and use that to try to take money out of your account. You would have to send the money to me, and not me taking the money from you. With that said, it is fine to provide the account number since this will be the only way to transfer money from one person to another. As noted in the Financial Requirements, there is no physical cash in the nation.

Company Account Number

Any government owned business will use the NIN as an account number. Simply put, it will just work. This could also be done by other companies as well. In a matter of fact, it might just make more sense to use the NIN as the account number for a customer.

Health1 Number

Health 1 will be the single payer healthcare system in Kaldus. Every citizen of the nation will be guaranteed quality necessary health care without any discrimination. Non-citizens will have the option to pay into the system. Since the government controls the healthcare system, it would make sense that they will use the NIN as the account number. Since the NIN stays with the person until their passing, this number will work even if there was a major change in how healthcare worked.

Telephone Number

An NIN is 11 digits. The domestic telephone number is 12 digits. This means that every NIN number has up to 9 voice lines, and 1 fax line. On a personal consumer level, this should be more than sufficient to meet the telecommunication needs of the consumer. There will be a government monopoly that will micro-manage the telephone number distribution, as well as voicemail services. Since these two features are separate from the telephone service, a customer could essentially have a voicemail only number. Any number ending in 0 is a fax line. Any number ending in 1-9 are voice lines.
